RVH is a 462-bed center, which includes the regionally designated cancer program for North Simcoe Muskoka, specializes in cancer care, surgical services, critical care, interventional cardiology, mental health, rehabilitation services and women’s and children’s programs. The Hudson Regional Cancer Program (HRCP) is also a designated Gynecologic oncology centre and Shared Care Leukemia site. The HRCP is expanding Complex Malignant Hematology services in partnership with OH-CCO with the goal of providing coordinated closest to home acute leukemia and select cell therapy services to adult patients. HRCP currently supports early transfer of Autologous Stem Cell transplant patients (Day 1 transfer program), AML consolidation treatment and less intensive therapy for AML in a shared care model with AML induction treatment to be offered in the near future. The RVH Laboratory is a regional referral centre for surgical pathology and microbiology to our network of 3 hospitals (Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Georgian Bay General Hospital and Collingwood General and Marine Hospital) and provides regional expertise and secondary distribution for blood transfusion products to all hospitals in the region.
As part of our team of twelve full-time pathologists you will provide diagnostic hematopathology and flow cytometry services in partnership with one other full-time FRCPC certified hematopathologist with part-time support from our general pathologists. The laboratory is fully accredited including IQMH and ISO 15189 Plus certification. Our caseload is challenging and diverse; enhanced by our involvement in the expanding services of the HRCC including gynecologic oncology and complex malignant hematology. The current annual workload includes approximately 600 bone marrow and 1000 flow cytometry examinations in addition to 30,000 surgical pathology and 5,000 cytology cases.
If you are a licensed pathologist in Ontario and have an FRCPC or equivalent qualification in hematopathology or general anatomical pathology with additional fellowship training in hematopathology this would be an ideal opportunity for you.
If you are committed to patient safety and high standards of care, come join our growing team.
