Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist – Physiatry

Royal Victoria Regional Health Center seeks a dynamic Physiatrist to spearhead our innovative Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Program. As a consultant, you will champion both inpatient and outpatient rehab services, focusing on osteoporosis management, falls risk mitigation, neurorehabilitation (including stroke, spinal cord injury, and acquired brain injury), ICU rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation and electromyography.

This role encompasses a 0.2 FTE Medical Director Leadership position, providing dedicated office space and shared administrative support. To fortify our physiatry program, RVH offers up to 4 hours per week of clinic time and associated resources.

The ideal candidate will expand capacity by integrating physiatry expertise within inpatient medicine teams, offering consultation, team support, and educational initiatives. Hospital

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is a 480-bed community hospital in Barrie, Ontario. As the largest hospital in the region of North Simcoe Muskoka, RVH’s team of over 500 physicians, 3,500 employees and 850 volunteers provide exceptional care and specialty services. RVH is currently in the planning stages of an expansion that will double the size of the current campus and will build a second health centre in Innisfil, ON.

Opportunity

RVH is seeking an Obstetrician and Gynecologist to join their group of 7 OB/GYN physicians. The Birthing Unit delivers 2000+ births per year and has excellent support from both the Pediatric and Anesthesia Departments. Our NICU is a level 2C unit, which provides care for infants at or above 30 weeks gestation. Our surgical program has state of the art MIS operating suites. The Surgery Department at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is implementing both a robotics program (Da Vinci) to enhance the delivery of Gynecologic care as well as the Acessa (minimally invasive technology for treatment of fibroids). This cutting-edge approach reflects RVH’s commitment to advancing surgical care and meeting the growing needs of the community. 

We have a full Colposcopy Program with a central referral system in place, as well as the Regional Gynecologic Oncology program that provides excellent care and support for our community. We are affiliated with the University of Toronto Family Medicine Residency Program, which provides plenty of teaching opportunities. The RVH Department of Obstetrics offers a dedicated Physician Assistant, available Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The Physician Assistants works collaboratively with the Obstetrician and the clinical team to round on postpartum patients, manage triage patients and assist with C-sections.

Qualifications

The qualified applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the RCPSC and be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. CMPA coverage is required.

Gastroenterologist/Advanced Endoscopist

The Department of Medicine at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is looking to recruit a full time Gastroenterologist with training in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy to join a collegial team of 6 Gastroenterologists.

Applicants must have successfully completed specialty qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be independently licensed or eligible for licensure in Ontario. Applicants also must have successfully completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship and be competent in ERCP. Additional skill sets including EUS, advanced polypectomy, third-space endoscopy would be desirable.

The position will involve a broad-spectrum GI clinical practice, including outpatient and inpatient general GI consultations and participation in GI on-call service shared equality with the GI team.

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), located in Barrie, Ontario, is currently seeking Locum Obstetrician and Gynecologists to join the Department of Obstetrics.

RVH is a state-of-the-art facility offering a wide range of medical services with plans for expansion. As the largest hospital in Simcoe-Muskoka, RVH serves a diverse population with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. The RVH Obstetrics and Gynecology program is a Level 2 NICU (30 weeks gestation and over) and manages over 2,000 deliveries per year.

In support of Locum Obstetrics, RVH is pleased to offer:

  • $1,500.00 stipend for every 24-hour on-call shift; and
  • $502.05 Hospital On-Call Coverage (HOCC) stipend for every 24-hour call shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive obstetrical care, including prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum services.
  • Participate in a hard/soft call blend system, assisting with c-sections or covering for colleagues during their absence.

  • Share on-call duties, with the call schedule becoming 1 in 7 upon adding a new team member.
  • Weekend on-call coverage is for 48 hours.

Qualifications:

  • Certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) with a special interest or additional training in Obstetrics.

Infectious Disease Specialist

RVH is seeking an adult Infectious Disease Specialist to expand Infectious Disease services at RVH and across the region.

The successful candidate will provide consultations on patients with infectious diseases in ambulatory (that are within hospital) and inpatient settings. They will support and work collaboratively with the antimicrobial stewardship team. The ideal candidate should possess expertise to manage infections in immunocompromised patients and will be responsible for providing outpatient care to a diverse group of patients (including patient with Hepatitis C, HIV and complex wound infections). However, please note that this clinical expertise is not mandatory for applicants. 

To ensure the sustained success and support the future growth of Infectious Disease Services, RVH will provide the following resources:

  • Competitive daily stipend for consultation services, from Monday to Friday and excluding Saturday, Sunday and holidays
  • HOCC daily on-call stipend for virtual services, if clinically required
  • Operational management of the Infectious Disease Clinic, which operates twice per week, for approximately 4.5 hours. RVH will provide administrative, clerical and nursing support. Outpatient clinical time will progressively increase as time evolves.

 

The successful candidate will be a member of the Department of Medicine, and work in collaboration with an interprofessional team, including:

  • Internal Medicine Ambulatory Clinics
  • Closed ICU and CCU
  • CCOT services
  • Subspecialty consultation and support
  • General Internal Medicine and Hospitalist inpatient services, with an ability to participate in that model as desired
  • Regional Cancer Program
  • Regional Renal Program
