Gynecology Oncologist

The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) in Barrie, Ontario is inviting applications for a position as a sub-specialist Gynecologic Oncologist. The successful applicant will join three full time Gynecologic Oncologists and a multidisciplinary team of other physicians and specialized nurses, who work primarily out of the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre (HRCC).

The HRCC is currently seeking a full time Gynecologic Oncologist to join our existing clinicians within the comprehensive Gynecologic Oncology program in Barrie, Ontario. The successful candidate will contribute to providing care for patients as far as northern Ontario by rotating through the outreach clinic located in Sudbury and will be cross appointed in both Surgery and Oncology at RVH.  

The Division participates in teaching of trainees and therefore must be eligible for academic appointment through the University of Toronto to offer opportunities to mentor multi-professional learners. RVH is home to a growing research program, supporting a multitude of disciplines across the hospital.  We provide research support in areas such as study concept and design, statistical analysis, regulatory, ethics, and logistical planning for Investigator led projects, academic and industry clinical trials.

The HRCC Gynaecologic Oncology Program provides high quality multidisciplinary care for hundreds of patients previously traveling elsewhere for most aspects of their care. An exciting opportunity exists to participate in the ongoing growth and development of this unique program within Ontario.

The Surgery Department at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is implementing a robotics program to enhance the delivery of Gynecologic Oncology care. This cutting-edge approach reflects RVH’s commitment to advancing surgical care and meeting the growing needs of the community.

The qualified applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the RCPSC and must hold an MD degree, be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.

The Program

The Hospitalist Program at RVH has been in existence since early 2001. The program has evolved since its inception, with the addition of more Hospitalists to support the growing number of unassigned patients to the Barrie Area along with the expanding local population and has received much support from our hospital administration. The Hospitalist Program at RVH is a Family medicine-based program. We are responsible for the hospital care of unassigned patients both acute care and ALC, who would otherwise be admitted under their Family physician. We receive a great deal of support from our specialist colleagues who provide care for our patients either as consultants or as the most responsible physician. We are a very homogenous team with an excellent reputation throughout the hospital.

We are currently seeking two dynamic and motivated Child and Youth Psychiatrists to join our team as we continue to grow our Regional Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions service serving North Simcoe and Muskoka. Working with the leadership of Mental Health and Addictions Program, you will be a key part of the team that plans, delivers, coordinates, and evaluates the continuum of care within the Regional Child and Youth Mental Health portfolio. RVH’s Mental Health Program is a hospital-based program, requiring no additional offsite private practice location.

The successful candidates are registered physicians or are eligible to be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario with training in child and youth mental health with a minimum of three to five years of clinical experience. Leadership skills are preferred/desired. This position is a key member of the multidisciplinary team with a collaborative approach to treatment. The successful candidate must be a Board-Certified psychiatrist (or FRCPC in Canada) and have completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and/or have significant experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

General Psychiatrist

Mental Health Program

RVH is currently seeking dynamic and motivated General Psychiatrist to join our team of 10 Psychiatrists. We are a 36 inpatient bed unit with 5 additional mental health beds in the emergency department. Part time inpatient work can range from 4-5 beds and part time outpatient load would be approximately 20 hours per work. ECT is conducted on Mon, Wed and Fri at 8:00 in the morning for one hour.  Call schedule is currently 1 in 10. Compensation consists of monthly sessional and stipend funding for on call services. In addition to this the doctor would also bill fee for service work through OHIP.

The Mental Health and Addiction Program at RVH provides the full continuum of care to those suffering with moderate to serious mental illness or substance misuse. There are several service components, which include a crisis intervention service, a 36-bed inpatient unit, comprehensive outpatient programming including a Partial Hospitalization Program and a 17-bed residential treatment centre for withdrawal management and substance abuse treatment.

Working with the leadership of Mental Health and Addictions Program, you will be a key part of the team that plans, delivers, coordinates, and evaluates the continuum of care within the Mental Health portfolio. RVH’s Mental Health Program is a hospital-based program, requiring no additional offsite private practice location. This position includes both inpatient and outpatient care.

The successful candidate is a registered physician or are eligible to be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and is a Royal College certified psychiatrist (FRCPC). You are a key member of the multidisciplinary team with a collaborative approach to treatment. A natural communicator, you will engage with other mental health practitioners and patients while building lasting relationships. Experience with Electroconvulsive Treatment (ECT) would be an asset

Candidates should have an interest in practicing general neurology and providing inpatient and outpatient services. General neurologists with an interest in any area of neurology are encouraged to apply. The Royal Victoria Regional Health Center has been awarded Stroke Distinction in acute and rehabilitation stroke services. RVH is one of only 10 Hospitals in Canada to receive this designation, demonstrating strong stroke leadership. Benign Hematology

The Position

 

The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is looking to recruit one hematologist with a focus in benign hematologic conditions to join the team of medical oncologists, malignant haematologists and radiation oncologists at the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program (SMRCP).

Barrie is a rapidly growing city located on Kempenfelt Bay, only 45 minutes north of Toronto. Clinical Practice

The benign hematology program at RVH is a newly designed program with excellent opportunities for a benign hematologists looking for an exciting hospital-based practice with opportunities for growth and development.

The clinical responsibilities would be to provide both inpatient consultative hematology services for the Royal Victoria Hospital as well outpatient hematology services to the larger Simcoe Muskoka region.

Outpatient hematology clinics will be provided through hospital based ambulatory care clinics and with appropriate in hospital support. Clinical focus would be general hematology as well as a dedicated thrombosis clinic and perioperative hematology clinic. Support for outpatient clinics would include a primary nursing care model, clerical duties and administrative support. Outpatients attending clinics would have the opportunity to utilize RVH outpatient laboratory services for all diagnostic tests. Opportunities to see patients over OTN will be provided with hospital support. Drug access navigator clerical support will be provided for complex benign hematology patients as required (i.e. ITP, AIHA).

Inpatient hematology consultative service will be provided for patients admitted to hospital under general internal medicine, hospitalist, surgical or other services as well as patients in the emergency department.  Subspecialty hematology call coverage would be expected to be provided on average of 1 out of 5 days for urgent consultations to RVH inpatients or for after-hours telephone advice to hospitals in the region. There is no expectation for General Internal Medicine call.

All services would be remunerated on a Fee for Service (FFS) basis according to the OHIP schedule of benefits. The hospital will provide financial support for nursing, clerical, and administrative support to the physician.

Additional Opportunities

The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre has a mandate to support research and education interests. There is a strong family medicine teaching unit (FMTU) and opportunity for a University of Toronto Faculty Appointment.
